B2B Merchant Account
Customized B2B Payment Processing Solutions
A B2B merchant account is for any business that frequently sells to other businesses or government agencies. It differs from a standard merchant account in that it requires a more customized set-up to ensure that commercial credit card transactions qualify at their lowest possible interchange rates.
Commercial credit cards is a term used to describe business cards, corporate cards, fleet cards, purchasing cards, and GSA SmartPay® cards.
Commercial card transactions have been on the rise surpassing $687 billion in sales volume in 2017. It's crucial that your merchant account be set-up to process commercial card payments in a secure and cost-effective manner. Or else you will have rapidly shrinking profit margins due to high processing fees, and your payment environment will be vulnerable to hackers.
Look At Your Credit Card Processing Statement
Do you see ANY of the following downgrades listed on your recent monthly statement?
- Qualified or Qual
- Mid-Qualified or MQual
- Non-Qualified or NQual
- Standard or STND
- Electronic or ELEC
- Level 1
- Data Rate 1 or DR1
- Bill-Back - example: APR BB196 Transaction Cleared...
If the answer is YES, this indicates that your merchant account is setup incorrectly, and your business is overpaying for credit card processing.
Avoid Using Tiered Pricing or Bill-Back Pricing
Tiered pricing and Bill-Back pricing are the two most commonly used pricing methods for merchant accounts. Both of these pricing methods lack transparency and cause a majority of credit card transactions to downgrade.
When a credit card transaction downgrades, it does not qualify at its "target" interchange rate. Instead, it receives a much higher rate, which in turn costs your business a lot more money in processing fees.
Both of these pricing methods should be avoided because they ONLY benefit the payment processor who reaps increased profit off of your merchant account due to the downgrades. In other words, your business ends up paying more, and your processor ends up profiting more.
The pricing method that we use is called Cost-Plus Pricing, which is also known as Interchange Plus Pricing. It works by passing through all of your credit and debit card transactions at their respective interchange rates, with only a small fixed markup added.
The interchange rates are the wholesale processing rates set by Visa, MasterCard, and Discover and they differ according to card type and transaction type. i.e., swiped, key-entered, or online.
Cost-Plus Pricing can reduce your monthly credit card processing fees by up to 35% to 45%, which could save your business thousands of dollars in processing costs each year.
Level 3 Payment Processing
Commercial credit card transactions fall into one of three processing categories: Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3. With Level 1 having the highest rates and Level 3 having the lowest. By correctly qualifying your commercial credit card transactions at Level 3, you can save up to 1.5% on their respective interchange rates.
Level 3 Processing provides enhanced transaction reporting which is becoming a requirement for most government contracts. This enhanced reporting will make the reconciliation process a lot quicker for both you and your clients.
We offer a customized virtual terminal that makes Level 3 Processing quick and easy. It will allow your business to receive the substantial savings that Level 3 Processing provides, without doing any additional up-front work.
